Almost final: Set-Typhon amulet by v-v-f.
“I call upon you who are in the empty air, you who are terrible, invisible, almighty, a god of gods, you who cause destruction and desolation, […] You who were driven out of Egypt and have roamed foreign lands, you who shatter everything and are not defeated.”

Thanks.
I’ll, uh, properly explain what people are looking at, since I’ve seen all manner of weird names applied to the image (and I definitely put it together, and @vvfille certainly drew it): it is Set-Typhon, the one of the Rulers of the force of ‘destruction’ in the Greek Magical Papyri. With a few notable exceptions, the God appears in curse tablets and specifically ones designed to destroy entire households, and completely devastate lives.
The two exceptions are a rite in which the god is petitioned to make the magician a ‘king of magicians,’ and empower him; and a couple of curses where the God is not called on to unleash destruction, but to protect the magician from the very malicious work that they are engaged in. In fact the string of magical names I picked for the amulet comes from such a petition to the High God (in this case a ruler of both the Underworld, and a storm God of the heavens: a “god of Gods” as the PGM and PDM call them) for protection.
Finally, his spear is pointed downwards as a sign that the God is flexing power upon upon the Terrestrial and Chthonic worlds, the two places where one most often encounters dreadful and dangerous spirits.
WIP number 2 of Set and Apep. Most of the blackwork is done though he needs a few touch ups. If you look close you can see where I fucked up and had to cover a smudge with white paint.
‘Set’s Victory’ has already sold and will be going to a new home with a sister piece depicting Ra.
The Egyptian god Set stands in victory over Apep, the demon serpent of entropy and chaos.
This piece was challenging but fun. Human figure drawing has never been my forte (I prefer animals) but I am glad with the progress I made. Set has been my favorite Egyptian god for a long time now so it was fun to finally get around to drawing him. This piece is already sold. I can do similar pieces on commission. Look for a sister piece depicting Ra coming soon.
i haven’t drawn ska in a while so i updated her looks a little bit!!! :3c
on a note! she is not a jackal (ex: anubis), she is an ancient egyptian creature named the sha-animal (set is a sha-animal)
SET, god of the desert, storms, disorder and violence.
often represented as a mixed creature, with a canine body,
slanting eyes, square-tipped ears, a tufted/forked tail, and
a long, curved snout. because Set was identified with the
Greek Typhon, the animal is also commonly known as the
Typhonian animal or Typhonic beast.
So this is basically Set.
(and this took far, far too long for how lazy it turned out; also wish the loop could be more seamless, but ah well)full song [x]
