Double feature picture show.
Science fiction, double feature.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
THIS is the montage I’ve been waiting my life for.
Believe it or not I have a few. But not “Oklahoma” or “Singing in the Rain”.
Here they are in no particular order:
Phantom of the Paradise
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Wild Zero
Lisztomania
Rock ‘N’ Roll High School
Cannibal the Musical
Repo: The Genetic Opera
Alice Cooper: The Nightmare
The Wall
Poultrygeist, Night of the Chicken Dead
Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the ultimate cult classic, and it has been threatened by a remake numerous times. Now it seems to finally be happening for the film’s 40th anniversary.
Fox is working on The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event, a two-hour TV special described as a “reimagining” of the Jim Sharman’s 1975 film.
Kenny Ortega (This Is It, High School Musical, Hocus Pocus) is directing and choreographing the project. He’ll exec produce alongside Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and original producer Lou Adler.
I typically try to give remakes the benefit of the doubt, but I cannot imagine this one turning out good. Even with a strong creative team behind it, attempting to capture lighting in a bottle a second time is destined for failure.
It’s especially painful because there already is a script for the direct sequel (Shock Treatement was more of a spin-off) with songs and everything: Revenge of the Old Queen.
