Undercover cops infiltrate protest, aim gun at marchers
“The idea that police have an incredibly dangerous job is what we Southerners call a tall-tale, a stretch of the truth to bolster an ego unwilling to accept mediocrity. Not to take away from what many fair-minded officers do every day, but as those stubborn things called facts would have it, policing is less dangerous than farming, fishing, logging, and trash collecting, as well as six other professions.
Now is the time to burst the cop myth and to stop giving them the deference to murder our friends and family in the street.”

OK Highway Patrol Captain George Brown says the best “tip” for women to not get raped by a cop is to “follow the law in the first place so you don’t get pulled over.”

Pro tip: if you’re signaled to pull over (whether you’re male or female) and you’re in a place that has no witnesses, turn your hazard lights on to acknowledge the officer’s siren, and drive to the nearest gas station or populated area. This is accepted protocol by every agency. You are not obligated pull over until you can do so safely. This includes personal safety. Understand your rights, brothers and sisters. There are disgusting examples of authority in this world.HAZARD LIGHTS ARE NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. IT IS NOT ACCEPTED PROTOCOL BY EVERY AGENCY. DO NOT JUST CONTINUE DRIVING WITH YOUR HAZARD LIGHTS IN CASE THE COP MIGHT THINK IT’S A LOW-SPEED CHASE.
I know that sounds dumb, but hear me out. My mother is a dispatcher for the local police station. I asked her about how to pull over for a cop and even brought up the use of hazard lights, and she told me that it is not always accepted. This is what she told me you can do in order to feel safe when pulling over:
Call the police. No, really. Call and tell the dispatcher where you are and that there is a cop behind you demanding you pull over. The dispatcher can and will stay on the line with you while they look up the area you’re in to see if it’s one of their station’s cops. Then, once the cop comes to your window, you can crack it open (it only has to be an inch!) while still on the phone with the dispatcher. This is definitely, 100% accepted protocol.
The dispatcher will verify that it is their own, real cop, and they will gladly stay on the line with you throughout your interaction with the officer. And God forbid this ever happens to any of you, but if something were to happen to you during this time, you’ve already contacted 911 and given your location to the dispatcher.
Please keep this in mind if you are ever requested to pull over and do not feel safe. The dispatcher will understand. Do not, however, continue to drive, because there might be the off-chance an officer will think you’re flat-out refusing to pull over (a well-lit, populated area might be a ways away).
Stay safe.
Signal boost.
Because I personally know some creepy ass mother fuckers who became cops because they’re demented psychopaths and they get off on having control over people.
Signal boosting this because its super important but also, i’ve done this
I put on my hazards and called dispatch when a cop tried to pull me over for no clear reason late at night on a narrow road in the middle of the woods
I explained to dispatch that i felt it was unsafe for myself and the cop for me to pull over because there was no shoulder to pull over to and he could get hit by a car coming the other way if he came up to my window, but the road widened considerably abd was better lit about a mile ahead, so i told the dispatcher that i was going to go straight until there was space
She told me to keep going but not to pull over
Turns out the car pulling me over wasnt a cop
Whoever it was got spooked and sped off once dispatch told me to turn into the parking lot of a 24 hour gas station where there were security cameras and witnesses, but they still sent a real cop to meet me in the well lit gas station and follow me home, just in case
if i hadnt made that call, i might never have made it home that night.
^That is terrifying. It’s one of my biggest fears—I make a 2 hour drive through unpopulated areas frequently, and I’ve been pulled over twice. Both times, I was so afraid. I wish I had known this stuff. I am so very fortunate this didn’t happen to me.

NBA players join nationwide protests as marches go on in California
More NBA players, including Kobe Bryant, joined in on national demonstrations against racial profiling and police violence on Tuesday, as protests for the fourth consecutive night in California’s Bay Area led to another brief freeway shutdown.
Bryant, of the Los Angeles Lakers, and other players wore shirts during pregame warm-ups on Tuesday that read “I CAN’T BREATHE,” a reference to the final words of Eric Garner, a black man killed by a New York City police in July by way of a chokehold. A Staten Island grand jury chose not to indict white officer Daniel Pantaleo in the killing despite a clear video of the incident.
On Monday night, as hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NBA players from the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Brooklyn Nets, including Lebron James and Kevin Garnett, donned “I can’t breathe” t-shirts before their game.
Seattle cop won’t face charges after punching handcuffed black woman
A Seattle Police Department Officer will not face felony charges for punching an African American woman in the face after she was placed in handcuffs, local county prosecutors said.
The controversial decision was made despite video evidence of the confrontation, reported the Seattle Times, which took place between Officer Adley Shepherd and 23-year-old Miyekko Durden-Bosley back on June 22.
King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg announced recently that after conducting an investigation into the incident, Officer Shepherd was found to have “acted professionally and with restraint up to the point where he was kicked in the head by the suspect as she was being placed in the patrol car.”
With no charges coming from King County, federal prosecutors said they will now look into the case and consider whether to bring civil rights charges against Shepherd. These types of cases, however, are notoriously hard to prove, since prosecutors would need to show beyond a reasonable doubt that Shepherd willfully violated the suspect’s civil rights.
When Officer Shepherd originally arrived at the scene in June, he was responding to a call from the mother of Durden-Bosley’s boyfriend. He arrested the young woman, who was reportedly intoxicated and verbally abusive at the time. In dashcam footage of the incident, Durden-Bosley insists she did nothing to warrant an arrest and did not make any threats.

Denver Police seize tablet, delete video of brutal arrest. But it had backed up to “the cloud”
Late in August, Levi Frasier saw a violent scene unfolding on the street before him. So he decided to use his tablet to record it.
As plain-clothed men repeatedly punch a Latino man in the face, they can be heard shouting: “Spit the drugs out! Spit the drugs out!”
In the background, a woman is screaming “stop” in Spanish. Two uniformed officers rush up and help restrain the man — and knock the feet out from beneath the visibly pregnant 25-year-old. She lands on her stomach and face.
Some 55 seconds later, someone shouted “camera”.
A police officer stormed up to the witness, who was white, snatching his device from his hands and threatens him with arrest.
“When he took it, I said, ‘Hey! You can’t do that. You need a warrant for that!’ and he said, ‘What program did you take the video with? Where is that?’” Frasier later told Fox 31 News.
The police officer proceeded to search through his files.
“The first officer that comes up to ask me about my witness statement brings me to the police car and says we could do this the easy way or we could do this the hard way,” Fraser said.
“It was survival mode. It was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to make it out of here. Not going to go to jail today for something I didn’t have anything to do with,’” Frasier said.
When police eventually returned his tablet, the video evidence was gone.
“I couldn’t believe it. My heart dropped,” Frasier said. “I know I just shot that video, like it’s not on there now?”
Frasier had forgot he’d set his tablet to automatically upload files to the “cloud”, external storage services fed by mobile communications devices such as 4G phone and Wi-Fi links.
The FBI has now started an investigation into the case. x
