“In capitalist society, providing it develops under the most favourable conditions, we have a more or less complete democracy in the democratic republic. But this democracy is always hemmed in by the narrow limits set by capitalist exploitation, and consequently always remains, in effect, a democracy for the minority, only for the propertied classes, only for the rich. Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in the ancient Greek republics: freedom for the slave-owners. Owing to the conditions of capitalist exploitation, the modern wage slaves are so crushed by want and poverty that “they cannot be bothered with democracy”, “cannot be bothered with politics”; in the ordinary, peaceful course of events, the majority of the population is debarred from participation in public and political life.”
- V.I. Lenin, The State and Revolution
I honor Lenin as a man who completely sacrificed himself and devoted all his energy to the realization of social justice. I do not consider his methods practical, but one thing is certain: men of his type are the guardians and restorers of humanity.

I don’t know how radical you are, or how radical I am. I am certainly not radical enough. One can never be radical enough; that is, one must always try to be as radical as reality itself.

Capitalists can buy their way out of any crisis, so long as they make the workers pay.

April 22, 1870: Birthday of Comrade V.I. Lenin, leader of the Bolshevik Revolution, great teacher of the world’s workers and oppressed.
#LeninLives
The real EarthDay is Lenin’s birthday! Free the people & planet through socialist revolution!
Earth Day is cool and all, I guess. But let’s be real. Bourgeois reforms aren’t going to save us from the ravages of pollution and climate change. Even if U.S. imperialism was suddenly willing to accept them, which gets less likely every day. That’s why I prefer to mark Lenin’s birthday on April 22. Anything less than socialist revolution ain’t gonna cut it. – redguard
