Reading this like a manga gives a different image
The new Hellboy poster is legendary AF. Originally due out in January, the film will now open on April 12 via Lionsgate. Judging by the poster, it’s safe to say the R-rated reboot will be considerably darker than the previous incarnation.
Based on the popular comic series of the same name, Hellboy is directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent). Aron Coleite (Heroes), Andrew Cosby (Eureka), Christopher Golden, and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola worked on the script.
Stranger Things’ David Harbour stars in the titular role. Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell, Daniel Dae Kim, Sophie Okonedo, Brian Gleeson, and Alistair Petrie round out the cast.
Dark Horse Comics will collect the Hellboy comics in a series of Ominbus releases throughout 2018. The covers were created by Hellboy creator/artist Mike Mignola in collaboration with his longtime colorist, Dave Stewart.
The release schedule is as follows: Hellboy Omnibus Vol. 1: Seed of Destruction on May 9, 2018; Hellboy: The Complete Short Stories Vol. 1 on June 13; Hellboy Omnibus Vol. 2: Strange Places on June 20; Hellboy Omnibus Vol. 3: The Wild Hunt on July 18; Hellboy: The Complete Short Stories Vol. 2 on August 15; and Hellboy Omnibus Vol. 4: Hellboy in Hell on September 5.
The Omnibus and Complete Short Stories books will bring together the complete saga of Mignola’s signature creation in chronological order for the first time, from his 1994 debut through to the recent Hellboy in Hell series. In addition to Mignola, the series will include artwork by Duncan Fegredo, as well as color art from Mignola’s longtime collaborator Dave Stewart.
