Black History month with Ruth Ellis.
Ruth Ellis (1899 – 2000) dedicated countless years of service to her community, and particularly black LGBT youth. In 1937 Ruth moved to Detroit with her partner Babe, the two bought a house, which from 1946 to 1971 was known as the “Gay Spot.” Not only did their home serve as a safe space for Detroit’s LGBT community, but the couple also offered lodging and support to many black LGBT youth in need. In a time before the Gay Civil Rights Movement began Ruth was a beacon of light for many LGBT youth who found themselves in the dark. In 1999 The Ruth Ellis Center was founded in Detroit, MI, which continues to offer lodging and support to LGBT youth in need. She continued working with LGBT organizations until her death in 2000 at an age of 101.

Episode 18: Boys Beware!
This short film, along with the previous short I posted “Perversion For Profit”, is a bit heavier than the usual fare. This short film was produced to warn young boys that gay men will pick them up and molest them.
A piece of shameless, bigoted Anti-Gay propaganda who’s skewed and wrong message is that all gay men are pedophiles and are dangerously mentally ill. A sick idea still perpetuated today by many ultra-right wing and conservative elements like the American Family Association and the KKK.
A portrait of a time when homosexuals were even more openly persecuted than they are today. Then again if one looks too closely its still this bad!
Once again this film is PUBLIC DOMAIN and not copyright protected in the US at least. You can make and sell your own DVD of it, download it, show it for free or for profit. Or remix it or use it for stock footage

ACTUALLY. This myth gets more interesting. These original “double humans” were comprised of two parts—either both parts male, one part male and one female, or both female. This myth is used to explain why some people are homosexual and why some are straight. Yay Classics. I’M LEARNING SO MUCH IN COLLEGE GUYS

The Greeks had their flaws but they always had a tolerant and practical way of seeing the world.
Like how they explained why the different people of the world have different skin colors. Instead of the Abrahamic “Mark of Cain”, they believed that Apollo, the sun god, who’s chariot was the sun, allowed his son to drive the chariot. The boy could not control it and the sun came too close the the Earth. And, some people got exposed to the sun more than others and tanned various colors. That is how they explained the difference between people of different colors.
