When I was a kid and I saw the movie "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark", the scariest part for me was not the monsters or the villain, it was the scene when the rednecks harassed and attacked you. It scared the hell out of me because I thought they were really going to hurt you.
Oh honey believe me, I thought the exact same thing! Having a morality club or a Chastity Pariah can really ruin the fun in such a small town, I can tell ya… Well, good thing I was able to finally grab my stuff to go for my show in Vegas and everything went well. Maybe not for my not-so-great-uncle - but hey, who cares?!
Thanks for watching the movie, hope ya didn’t have too many unpleasant dreams after that.
Caught in a heatwave my husband and I decided to set the old VCR up in the living room because why not? Upon searching through our long neglected VHS collection I came upon this and a few others like it. I love the convenience of the digital age but how do you beat this gem? Hard copies for life.
Goota love the #Misfits and #Elvira - Beyond Coolness!
Hi. he reason that I asked that question about some of the films being to extreme was that I once read a wikipedia article that when you did a line of videos for Thriller Video, they wanted you to host films like "Make Them Die Slowly" (aka "Cannibal Ferox") and "Buried Alive" (aka "Beyond the Darkness" and "Buio Omega"), but you were not keen on their violence, gore and sexual content. Is there anything to this?
Oh, yeah, for ThrillerVideo the story’s hella different, that’s true! Ya know, I always handpick the movies I host - to really give ya the best of the worst - and for ThrillerVideo I went through the storages of British film series’ Thriller and Hammer House of Horror.
Now, anyone who knows me, knows also that I’m a fighter against animal cruelty so I would never host movies involving things like that! I mean, there’s nothing wrong with sex and violence in movies, as long as there is a also a great portion of humor involved, for good mixture. And a few movies in those series went a little too over the top with it and well, left the humor out - so they were out for my show.
Have you ever refused to show a movie on Movie Macabre either because it didn't deserve to be mocked or because it was too extreme (violence, etc.)?
Quite the contrary was the case! Since finding complete and affordable ‘worse of the worst’ movies for the show and actually getting the permission to show them was a horror on its own. She would’ve been a fool to refuse only one movie given to her freely. Plus, the old classic ones weren’t that violent compared to the standards from today.
This blog is mostly so I can vent my feelings and share my interests. Other than that, I am nothing special.
If you don't like Left Wing political thought and philosophy, all things related to horror, the supernatural, the grotesque, guns or the strange, then get the fuck out. I just warned you.
