Radio Blue Heart is on the air!

Radio Blue Heart presents TALES FROM THE PUBLIC DOMAIN!

Episode 72: THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM!

Directed by Otto Preminger and starring Frank Sinatra

Film noir based on the novel of the same name by  Nelson Algren, this film tells the story of a World War II veteran who became hooked on morphine (the film version never mentions the drug by name but it is implied that it is heroin) in a field hospital and carried his addiction back to his rough neighborhood in Chicago. Released from jail clean, he has high hopes of starting a new career as a jazz drummer. But debt and depression send in back to his old life as a card dealer in illicit gambling and his crippling addiction.

Once again this film is PUBLIC DOMAIN and not copyright protected in the US at least. You can make and sell your own DVD of it, download it, show it for free or for profit. Or remix it or use it for stock footage

Brain Damage (Frank Henenlotter 1988)

What a nice, weird way to start off this year’s month long horror movie marathon.  I love Frank Henenlotter and I don’t know how this movie had eluded me all these years, since I’ve seen and loved all of his other movies, even the Basket Case sequels that people seem to hate.  Brain Damage is a continuation of Henenlotter’s themes on bodily mutations and with weird killer puppets, as seen in the Basket Case trilogy.  Here, we see a young man named Brian who is infected by a sort of giant parasite thing.  The thing can speak English and it’s named Aylmer, and he’s a pretty cute little guy.

Ministry - Burning Inside

Will these dreams still follow me
When the dark comes, curing time
Can’t you see it up in the sky
As it kicks you in the face and sucks you dry
You never had the answers
And now you tell me the facts are lies
I really couldn’t be bothered with you
Get out of my face and watch me die
Burning inside! Burning inside!

Absolution and a frozen room
And the dreams of men below
I try to grab it but the touch is hot
The mirror collects it, but the image can not
I’m scared of the darkness and the light
I scare myself because I know I’m right
I see the evil in your savage eye
As it cuts right through the sky
Burning inside! Burning inside!

Calming the mantra with a blade in his skin
For the demons within
I feel the pain as we start to decay
But the lesson never fades away
Don’t need no shadows, turn them away
Become a man through the window pane
Another slave and a victim of fate
Another lesson in hate
Burning inside! Burning inside!
