Egyptian Gods
How cute!
Sobek the crocodile god by ~Lemondjinn
The Ancient Egyptians prayed to Sobek for protection from crocodiles.
For some reason that I can’t quite figure out, Sobek is one of my favorite gods.
The Weighing of the Heart from the Book of the Dead of Ani. At left, Ani and his wife Tutu enter the assemblage of gods. At center, Anubis weighs Ani’s heart against the feather of Maat, observed by the goddesses Renenutet and Meshkenet, the god Shay, and Ani’s own ba. At right, the monster Ammut, who will devour Ani’s soul if he is unworthy, awaits the verdict, while the god Thoth prepares to record it. At top are gods acting as judges: Hu and Sia, Hathor, Horus, Isis and Nephthys, Nut, Geb, Tefnut, Shu, Atum, and Ra-Horakhty

Anubis made a cameo on “Ugly Americans”. He was summoned to defeat Grimes’ mother who was an evil mummy and a total bitch.
“The Mummy and the Curse of the Jackal” aka “The Mummy vs The Were-Jackal
When a great concept is wasted…
A reanimated Egyptian battling a Jackal man (were-jackal?) in Las Vegas for a reincarnated Egyptian princess. Would make a great fantasy monster movie if not for miniscule budget and lack of filmmaking talent. That same year, footage from this was used in "Dracula, The Dirty Old Man” which used bad movie footage with a wacky dub job.
Traces of coca and nicotine found in Egyptian mummies - WTF fun facts
well DUH. a lot of historians are still trying to process the fact that ancient egyptians knew how to build boats, which is ridiculous. why would they not be seafarers and explorers?
this is not new or surprising information at all. it pretty much day one of any african-american studies course.
the egyptians knew that if they put their boats in front of the summer storm winds it’d blow them right across the sea to the Americas and they shared that with the greeks.
It’s really hard for people to understand that everyone had boats, exploration, and trade interactions without the same level of murder, colonization, and violence that the Europeans did. It’s really hard for people to get that.
Bolded for importance.
They circumnavigated Africa. It was the stories of those voyages that made the Portuguese want to do it. People of the Ancient World were a hell of a lot smarter than we give them credit for.
