On this day, 27 May 1968, the Grenelle negotiations in the May 68 French uprising concluded when union officials reached an “agreement” with employers for a 35% increase in the minimum wage and a 10% increase in average real wages, plus further trade union rights.
However, workers rejected the agreement and continued the mass strike.
Meanwhile, radical art collective Atelier Populaire produced posters mocking those who sought to “return to normal”
