Cats were worshiped in Ancient Egypt.

The domesticated cat, known as Mau, was viewed as a symbol of grace and poise and was often mummified just like humans.

Cats were so sacred that killing one, even accidentally, could be punishable by death.

lmao wrong

Bastet was worshipped. The hundreds of thousands of cat mummies are literal sacrifices to Bastet. The cats aren’t worshipped, the cats are killed to be offerings. There was no punishment for the death of a cat. Trust me on that one, I’ve studied ancient Egyptian legal texts.
