The Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is here to present your daily dose of bright-eyed and bushy-tailed cuteness! Easily identified by its auburn fur and tufted ears, this critter is widely distributed throughout Europe and northern Asia. Its diet primarily consists of nuts, seeds, and plant matter. Like other species of squirrel, its sense of smell is so acute that it can detect food buried under ~1 ft (0.3 m) of snow!
