The Skinny House is a spite house that was built in Boston, Massachusetts. It’s a four story home that’s 10 feet wide and 30 feet long and the only entrance to the building is the door at the side. The story goes that a plot of land was given to two brothers to share. When one brother returned from serving in the Civil War, he found that the other had built a large home that took up the majority of their land. The returned soldier, annoyed by what his brother had done, decided to build his spite house. He built it in a location that would disrupt his brother’s view to the harbor. To this day, the house stands as a residential home.
