As I understand, in order to see the first Friday the 13th movie, I have to see the first two Friday the 13th movies?
To actually get to the Friday the 13th we know in pop culture, with Jason as the killer, yes. The first film has a different killer and Jason’s motivation after that is directly tied to that killer. Now, if you want to FULL experience with Hockey Mask, Pop Culture Icon Jason, you have to watch part 3 as well.

For the record, Part 2 has the best Final Girl in the early run of movies. You don’t get a better one until Part 7.
