On this day, 6 January 2014, workers at the Goodyear plant in Amiens, France, took two senior managers hostage when the plant faced closure, demanding better severance pay. Over 100 workers occupied the plant and barricaded managers inside for 30 hours, until the company agreed to triple the proposed redundancy pay from an original offer averaging €20,000 per employee.
