Fucking Nestle is one of the worst goddamn brands on the planet.
Here is everyones reminder to block every goddamn brand that shows their face here. as fun as bullying this piece of shit resource stealer would be, block them so that they get no notes. make them leave this website so we dont become fucking twitter.
I have boycotted Nestle since 1978, when I first heard about them dumping formula on poor countries. It is, in fact, my only non-negotiable boycott.
In the ‘70s, breastfeeding became the accepted standard in the US, so they dumped their formula on poorer countries around the world. There, they used propoganda, scare tactics, and free samples to “encourage” women to stop breast feeding and use formula – then, long enough for breast milk to have stopped being produced, they charge more than people could afford. Many (MANY) babies died as a result of malnutrition and/or dysentery.
This was a real thing. It made loud enough news that my non-political self heard about it in the depths of Appalachia. The World Health Orangization fined them for the practice, but the corporation (iirc) neither acknowledged nor stopped.
In the early ‘90s, they were again fined by WHO for the same. damn. thing.
Then there’s this Guardian article from 2017
Nestlé pays $200 a year to bottle water near Flint – where water is undrinkable https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/sep/29/nestle-pays-200-a-year-to-bottle-water-near-flint-where-water-is-undrinkable
Also it took them being sued in the US Supreme Court for them to start giving a shit about the fact that over 1.5 million children in West Africa alone are used to grow and harvest their cocoa, nearly all of whom are doing hazardous tasks.
