Greg Abbott is busing asylum seekers to Chicago as a “gotcha!” to asylum cities but they were treated like such shit on the US-Mexico border that when they found out they were getting shipped to Chicago their reaction was, by and large, “I would have preferred New York City but this works too”. and Chicago had shelters and food waiting for them when they got here. it’s honest to god impressive to see how badly the republicans have been fumbling what should have been an incredibly easily midterms victory. just setting the democrats up for the perfect layup here
