Say “hi” to the largest flying parrot in the world, the Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus)!
It weighs as much as 3.5 pounds (1.7 kilograms) and grows up to 3 feet (1 meter) long. Besides its size, the parrot is distinguished by its rich blue plumage, with yellow rings around the eyes and bill. It lives in parts of Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay, where it uses its large bill to crack nut shells—it can even break through a coconut shell!
