like if you come up on the fbi's radar for whatever reason some paperpusher can totally fuck you over for reasons that make no sense outside of like, whatever office incentives they're faced with, just with their "investigation" powers, they don't need to convict you of anything

also there's civil asset forfeiture, they can take your money and your stuff, they don't have to prove you broke a law. They don't even really have to do official asset forfeiture, they can confiscate stuff as part of an investigation and then "lose" it when they finally decide they're not charging you with a crime

The true response to the “if they do this to the President they’ll do it to you!” is that they already do it to you! Every day! The FBI isn’t your friend! It’s only exceptionally weird now bc they went after someone rich and powerful this time

Any response either siding with Trump or using carceral logic is bad. The good response is ‘let them fight’
