  4. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac …people to vote for their otherwise mediocre pathetic unpopular platform of rolling over for giant corporations and passing zero widely desired reforms
  5. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac the democrats are holding you hostage and using this mentality that they’re the only game in town and you have no their options to avoid giving you anything the reversal of roe v wade happened under the democrats its a Democrat president who is appointing antiabortion judges its Democrat senators who are deliberately standing in the way of codifying roe v wade precisely to use it to terrify the general population with reactionary threats in order to stir…
  6. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac in Weimar Germany people sticking with the corrupt liberals is how the nasis were able to seize power they were too afraid of socialism and so they got fascism instead

  9. agentlilac said: @infectedwithnyanites I’m not going to defend the Democratic Party, because they don’t deserve it. But right now the options at the voting both is the corrupt capitalist centrists, or the Nazis, and the choice is clear. But oh the streets, I sure as hell am screaming at them too
  10. agentlilac said: If we keep Dems in those seats, we keep abortion legal, but if we lose the seats, lose the right. We keep the seats by voting. And no, I’m not going to sit around and wait for the election. I have and will continue to protest because I want politicians from both parties to be afraid that if they don’t listen to to us we will burn down their house with them inside. And when that election comes, I’m gonna make sure my voice is heard there too
  11. agentlilac said: The Repbs want and have tried to make abortion illegal in NC, but the governor vetos their bills, and since they are two seats short of controlling 2/3s of NC’s senate, they can’t override. Those two seats are up for re-election this fall, and if they’re taken by Repbs they will make abortion illegal, and other horrible things, over the veto of the governor.
  12. agentlilac said: Here’s an example of why I think it’s still important to vote: The governor of North Carolina is a Democrat, because NC is majority Dems, and governor is done by popular vote. NC’s legislature is done by very gerrymandered districts though, so it’s majority Republican. Right now abortion is legal, difficult and humiliating to get but legal, in NC.
  13. agentlilac said: @infectedwithnyanites I agree, with everything you just said (especially the last bit, I’m from North Carolina, one of the most gerrymandered states). You’re very eloquent, and I want to make something clear, I don’t think that voting is ALL anyone should do. I think it is one of many ways to create change (others including protesting, rioting, etc.), and should not be abandoned when things are bad.
  14. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac …that they do not care about you at all but that they’re totally the lesser evil because they won’t do fascism openly just ensure that nothing fundamentally changes in an unsustainable rapidly decaying political order when what’s required at this juncture is precisely courses of action which boldly and courageously reject and diverge from businsess as usual
  15. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac even when the democrats win what do we get austerity and abandonment catering to their wealthy donors neglect of everyone else’s interests recovery bills gutted of all substance and worth health bills which amount to subsidies for insurance companies money to fund foreign wars but no money to alleviate suffering no wage increases no codifying roe v wade only the assertion that you’re obligated to vote for people who at every opportunity demonstrate…
  16. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac voting does not matter in a capitalist Republic is a fact born out by our current experiences the red team lost yet found means to implement their program anyways the blue team won yet all they’re capable of mustering is excuses about their own supposed impotence how their failures are really their voter bases fault and we all just need to magically vote harder even when there’s nothing encouraging to mobilize anyone to do so just threats

  19. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac they will always be in power if all you ever do to attempt to remove them is vote because they own this system and have it rigged and superdelegated and gerrymandered
  20. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac the democrats are not a lesser evil which is exactly why you’re capable of voting for them because it does not matter if you choose the blue team over the red team the machinery of the regime marches on unfettered and indifferent
  21. infectedwithnyanites said: @agentlilac you can vote sure but you’ll always be presented with the option between one or the other representatives of the capitalist class what exists today is not democracy there is no democracy in the west their is only plutocratic republics representation is still a privilege confined to the rich and landed formal enfranchisement will never be anything more than a guage of the maturity of the working class
  22. agentlilac said: @infectedwithnyanites they didn’t let us do it to begin with. Widespread democracy is a very young thing. Most of history is filled with monarchies. No one in America got the right to vote just handed to them. White men got after the revolutionary war, black men got after the civil war, and women only got it in 1919 because of the suffragettes, and the Right has been trying to take it away ever since. One way they do it is by saying it doesn’t matter, so you won’t vote, so they stay in power
