For American audiences ‘The Thing’ was actually Mothra, renamed by the distributor for reasons.
But I like to imagine Godzilla fighting the Thing from the 1951 Howard Hawks US film. That would have been a very different movie. The Hawks version of the Thing would have been closer to the plant-based Biollante. Imagine James Arness in a Man In Suit outfit crashing through a city punching and clawing Godzilla.
