On this day, 2 April 2013, Stelios Vlamakis, parliamentary candidate for the Greek fascist party Golden Dawn, was thrown in the sea by residents of the port town of Chania, Crete.
He was in a group of around 10 fascists who were getting drunk and making Nazi salutes, and then began attacking two migrants. They then got into confrontations with shopkeepers and other people at the port, while police stood by.
A group of people from the anarchist area of town then gathered and confronted the fascists, injuring three and throwing Vlamakis into the sea.
Golden Dawn members filed assault charges against four men, who were arrested, but the anti-fascists were later released following orders from the prosecutor after witnesses stated they acted in self defence.
