Bermuda has no fresh-water springs, rivers, or lakes; they must collect rainwater to survive. Over 400 years ago, they introduced white-stepped roofs to houses to harvest rain and direct it to underground reservoirs. Each home is self-sufficient. There is no mains water-and no water rates.
