On this day, 19 January 1970, Spanish civil war fighter and textile worker militant Libertad Rodenas died in Mexico, aged 76. She had fought in the anarchist Durruti Column during the revolution, and joined the Mujeres Libres women’s group. Her three children were sent to the USSR for safety during the war, but two of them were killed during World War II in the defence of Leningrad. She was reunited with her youngest son, Ismael in 1946.
