Kinda meta how U.S. audiences have been heaping praise on South Korean film & TV critiquing SK hypercapitalism without any apparent awareness or reflection of how their country has helped build said hypercapitalism through war, occupation, militarization, structural adjustment

The US invaded to preserve capitalism in SK, then built its industries to supply US military interventions in SEA, prop up Japan as a regional bulwark against communism, and be a forever buyer of US weapons. This is not some essential “Asiatic capital” that exists out of context
