Public transit is a public utility.

And it needs to be treated as such.

Standardized schedules, running times, wages for any and all who work in the system that are actually livable, clean and well-maintained stations & stops, clean and well maintained VEHICLES, accessible and ADA compliant, clear maps and routes….

And absolutely free.

I’m a member of Metro Access for the DC Metro area, including parts of Maryland and Virginia. It’s the disability service from Metro. And that means I ride the Metro, Metrobus, and Ride On Bus for free. In the last several months, Ride On and Metro Bus have been letting people ride for free, with the weather and the pandemic. And I feel really glad.
