Thousands of janitors across California have taken to the streets to fight for a fair union contract. United Service Workers West represents some 40,000 janitors, airport staff, security guards and workers in the entertainment industry. The Justice for Janitors division voted Aug. 20 to approve a strike if a fair contract is not wrested from management in September.
The president of USWW, David Huerta, spoke with Struggle-La Lucha about Justice for Janitors and the current negotiations.
