On this day, 16 August 1907, Georgette Kokoczinski, Spanish civil war martyr, was born in Versailles, France. Known as “Mimosa”, she was heavily involved in the French anarchist movement and in 1931 she married a Polish socialist. Upon the outbreak of revolution in Spain, she joined the international group of the Durruti Column and went to the Aragon front. She was killed on October 17 during the battle of Perdiguera.
