devastated to hear about the passing of dr. haunani-kay trask today. while many only know her from the viral “native hawaiian woman responds to caller” video, dr. trask was a renowned hawaiian independence advocate, educator, author, and anti-imperialist. she was also the the co-founder of the kamakakuokalani center for hawaiian studies which is a leading space for kānaka maoli scholarship at the university of hawai’i. rest in power ✊🏼
