Amenhotep III had, no exaggeration, HUNDREDS of Sekhmet statues everywhere. They’re fucking massive, too
It was kind of a twofold thing. For one, Amenhotep III was very sick and Sekhmet was associated with disease.
But also he was a King who was very sick, and lions project strength so it was also a “NO I’M FINE I AM VERY STRONG AND VERY POWERFUL LIKE A LION” thing going on
