Mikhail Egypteos – a Russian shipbuilder engineer of Ethiopian origin, a major general who supported the October revolution and in 1918 was a member of the Bolshevik Military-Revolutionary Committee.
In 1907 Colonel M. Egypteos was appointed chairman of the technical commission for the development and construction of a turbine cruiser of the “Novik” type.
From 1909, a senior shipbuilder M. Egypteos became a chief ship engineer and head of the Russian state shipbuilding department. In 1911 he was promoted to major general in the Corps of Naval Engineers.
After the October Revolution, M. Egypteos became a member of the Military Revolutionary Committee in 1918. Then worked at the ‘Sudproekt’ (Soviet ship building project agency) developing and building the Red Army’s Navy. Died in 1932.
