Republicans are picking fascism. Jan 6 coup attempt is perfect example of GOP-sanctioned violence.

This is a conversation that has no end, and I feel like I’ve only come to disagree with you more at each turn. Hell, just look at how this went from a single thread discussion to an 8 subject dissection.
  7. nallberts said: @asrieldreemurr-dankmeemurr I appreciate some of the things you’ve given me to think about, but really I have no interest in furthering this conversation. 90% of what we’ve boiled this down to is either subjective (i.e. opinion) or doesn’t hold up to incredibly basic fact-checking— when it comes to arguing over opinions, there is no true right or wrong, only what I choose to believe and what you choose to believe— I choose to believe what others have found out through logical thinking.

  10. nallberts said: A lot of the claims that big tech, the left, all that controls the media (or as you put it, culture) usually root back to anti-semitism. It’s a dense subject but I don’t believe that it’s true.
  11. nallberts said: 5. I agree that the right wing doesn’t have as many star entertainers like the left wing, but I disagree that dems own platforms like twitter. The amount of republicans I’ve seen posting on Twitter saying that ‘republican voices are being suppressed’ that get tens of thousands of retweets is embarrassing. Apps like youtube have had problem with Alt-right pipelines and I think apps like tiktok have problems with an alt-left pipeline (but that’s a different conversation).
  12. nallberts said: 4. You’re working with incredibly small fragments of evidence and there’s no way either of us as non directly involved citizens could know if it was actually tied to fraud or not. Those things like incorrect numbers or errors with the machines can happen naturally (elections are massive, but there are poll workers and watchers there to help figure it out— not complicate it). Statistical analysis, the US Attorney General, and the DOJ all go against the claims of fraud.
  13. nallberts said: 3. The FBI itself has refuted that claim. It was still a popular idea among republicans and Trumps attorneys brought it up at the impeachment trials, but there is still no proof of ANTIFA involvement in the capitol attack.
  14. nallberts said: @asrieldreemurr-dankmeemurr 2. While the U.S. has skewed slightly left politically over the past several decades, things only look so much further from central because of polarization. Without the massive party divide, there wouldn’t be conversations like this over varying conspiracy theories, and the modern dividing campaigns we see in politics didn’t start with democrats or the press but instead earlier republican candidates like Newt Gingrich.
  15. nallberts said: @asrieldreemurr-dankmeemurr Media coverage of the George Floyd protests and ANTIFA varied and even more commonly referenced “left leaning media” like CNN are by no means monolithic, several articles on CNN condemn the ideas and actions of ANTIFA and rioters. The right wing entertainment complex is a very real thing as well and I’d argue that no single side of coverage has more leverage than another.
  16. nallberts said: In what you’ve said about dominion and the mail-in voting system you’ve pointed out flaws, but no proof as to whether or not they were actively exploited in the 2020 election. “I’m old enough to remember such classic hits as “Russia hacked the election” Assuming you’re referencing the 2016 election, it was less than 5 years ago— I should hope you’re old enough to remember it.
  17. nallberts said: Whatever you want to say about it, time after time in the past couple of years, ANTIFA has been a scapegoat for both sides of the political spectrum, often when there was even no proven involvement. I don’t mean to sound like I’m downplaying the harm that the ideology and other extremist ideologies in general, but most of the time the proof is lacking.
  18. nallberts said: Even in the republican party there is debate over whether it is or whether is isn’t organized. Back in 2020 FBI Director Chris Wray told lawmakers that ANTIFA was an “ideology, not an organization”, a statement that put him at odds with President Trump, who was fighting to have ANTIFA registered as a terrorist organization. Even Biden denounced ANTIFA back in September saying that violence on either end was unacceptable.
  19. nallberts said: @asrieldreemurr-dankmeemurr Starting on ANTIFA again. While they may be “called in to action” in local cells or groups, that’s all it is— local cells. There is no greater leadership or affiliation. ANTIFA is a strongly left wing organization but a lot of far left wingers do not support democratic candidates, and especially don’t support president Biden. They are not organizations but pockets of supporters basically in local clubs.

  22. nallberts said: Arguing that it was reasonable to attack the Capital after being ‘cheated out of an election’ is extreme— they weren’t owed catharsis after a perceived loss, so long as the loss was democratic, and of course protestors faced push back— it’s the Capital Police’s job to stop crime and protect the Capital. And while I feel like this is probably going to be an immediate close to the conversation, can you explain or give sources that realistically suggest massive fraud in the 2020 election?
