Ramesses II as a Child at Abydos

This relief detail shows the young Ramesses II with a side lock. The youth side lock was worn by Egyptian children, particularly boys, until the age of about fourteen years. It is part of a scene in which Ramesses presents his father Seti I to the gods. 

The relief can be found on the north wall in the Chapel of Seti, one of the seven chapels that are located directly west of the Second Hypostyle Hall of the Temple of Seti I at Abydos. The Temple at Abydos was begun by Seti I and completed by his son Ramesses II in the 13th century BC.
