The number of people on twitter who proport to be a leftist, liberal, progressive etc. and spend their days hollering about how the working class have been left behind, who are also now angry about this and saying things like “being single isn’t free! where’s my extra money??” and “if we’re going to give people money to have kids, we should make them get a license first” is truly incredible. 

Like, I get it. I’m a childless and single woman. It sometimes gets annoying how we’re seen as not having additional burdens that need support-taking care of family members is a big one-and how our culture is very focused on women as pre-mother or mother. But children do cost money? They need extra stuff? Supporting their parents helps everyone and lifts more people out of poverty. And children are also vital to a well functioning and thriving society, even outside of economic and longevity terms- human beings pass down culture and beliefs and what makes us unique to the next generation. 

Hating children is not a personality. Sorry. And if you’re only a leftist/progressive when it benefits you, there’s a word for that-Republicans.
