very bullshit and transparent how every piece of us american media, every single us american dictionary, etc., decides to explain what a kulak is:
“Poor peasants!! Poor little poor rural poor poor!!! starving innocent!!! peasants”
(in small text, if even included at all) “who were wealthy enough to own land”
this is such a bad definition it is entirely meaningless. has no mention of relationship to labor...
for those of you wondering
the working class make their money in only 1 way, they can only sell their labor
the petit bourgeoisie have more to sell than just their labor and in fact can even make money off of other peoples labor it has literally nothing to do with “what wealth bracket youre in” and everything to do with your relationship to labor
see: mom and pop store that hires people to work register.
their income status or like “wealth status” in this definition being placed in “lower middle class” is completely and totally asinine given most “small business owners” or people with a different relationship to labor than “the working class” (who have only their labor to sell) make far more money than the average worker
im so fucking mad.
ppl are really mad at me in the notes for pointing out that the us education system lies and obstructs information especially when it comes to russia. incredible!
as if they (us education system) dont largely go from explaining peasants to be poor serfs who are owned by lords and work on land that is not their own to then being like “the kulaks were peasants” in an obvious sleight of hand without ever really describing peasant classes adequately.
theres a huge difference between describing kulaks as all being these poor serfs who own nothing and explaining what actually happened.
