Also, the whole “Well, they only say that to weed people out, you can totally apply without that experience,” thing people trot out is an excuse that doesn’t make it any better.
If anything, it makes it worse, because it shows how much the application process is more or less designed to be directly hostile and confusing to job seekers by directly lying to them and making them jump through hoops for the benefit of the employer!
