On this day, 28 December 1931, revolutionary Marxist writer and filmmaker, Guy Debord, was born. A founding member of the Situationist International, whose ideas would be hugely influential during the May 1968 uprising in France, he was most famous for his book ‘The Society of the Spectacle’, his criticism of modern consumerist capitalism and the importance of the mass media, marketing and culture.
