"umm if your tap water isn't safe and you disapprove of commodification of water in plastic bottles just boil your water!" yeah because it's super efficient to boil a certain amount of water every fucking time you use it when you have a lot of shit to get done in the day.
as i've mentioned before my town's water is marked unsafe a lot, and guess what people do in those situations? get jugs of water from monopolies like nestle. if you're busy with work or whatever it's easy to quickly pour some water from those things. that's the hard truth. no amount of free market "consumer choice" nonsense will get you out of it.
ALSO, unsafe tap water is NOT uncommon, even in the 'first world', and it especially effects indigenous populations.
just because you personally haven't witnessed or experienced something doesn't mean it's not an issue. to look at things from a wider perspective, this is a result of the individualist, self-centered mindset instilled in people under capitalism. "you don't have easy access to something? stop asking for help, that's your personal problem, just work harder". yes I had to make this about capitalism, welcome to my blog.
