Remember “The Noid”? Did you know why Dominos stopped using him in their advertising?

A man named Kenneth Noid believed the mascot to be a personal jab at him, and took two Dominos workers hostage in Atlanta.

Noid–who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia–was arrested after a five-hour standoff with police. At his trial, the jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity.

He was placed in institutionalized care, but would eventually take his own life three years later, thus making Dominos’ annoying, bunny-suited mascot forever infamous as the only corporate mascot directly linked to someone’s death.
