A review of one of the Lovecraft pastiche’s I remember from my youth.
Now I read this while half-asleep in the car when I read this as a lad, so this was an interesting refresher.
From this story I started wondering why many writers limit themselves to having cultists dedicated only to one deity. Surely many would be polytheistic, and some mingling of traditions would happen in some regions? (I recall Yig being part of the carvings of the gate of Dream, but the books not on me at the moment , and I don’t know if I still have it so I can’t check)
I love how Cthulhu’s minions/worshipers/avatars? remind me of the “flying rods” phenomenon, rather than being molluscoid in appearance, and that for a change runs when stumbled upon rather than attacking.
