Highly recommend this timely retrospective of one of the most vital and important drama strands in all of TV history. Celebrates everything that was groundbreaking and challenging about the Play for Today anthology, but doesn't pull its punches on valid criticism either - particularly in the failure of the series to amplify marginalised voices (less than 1% of the plays were helmed by BAME directors, with women creators similarly under represented).
The BFI are planning to release a boxset collecting together seven of the plays, newly restored and with a wealth of special features. Hopefully the first volume of many.
