Crime SuspenStories #7 (1951)

Why is there even an axe on her table? Is that her good, Sunday, cloth-chopping axe because it certainly looks fancy with the nice, red handle and the white, candy-like stripe.  It’s also very clean and placed here so neatly.

Or, more terribly, maybe that woman is the wife of the axe-killer and she is just now realizing why her husband has been leaving brand new axes around the house.

Turns out she’s the axe killer, and she’s been getting away with it since The War ended because it’s the early 1950s and no one suspects a woman of being capable of a cruel campaign of dastardly decapitation. Here, her husband has finally begun to suspect.

When his torso is found a week later, it will only serve to remove the visibly grieving young widow even further from suspicion.

Reblogging because the above comment makes it 100% better. I am all in favor of Axe-Wife.
