So I’m gonna say something.

I’ve spent a lot of time doing my homework on historical fascist movements, & as some of y’all know, that’s from both sides of the barricades.  And I’m scared as fuck.

We already have the secret police.  We already have the Freikorps.  And we’ve already built the camps.  This is what comes next.

We are at a tipping point.  Whether you want them to or not, things are never going back to normal.  Trump is not an ideological fascist, and neither are most of his cronies, but like—they don’t need to be.  Trump is not Hitler, but he doesn’t need to be.  Trump is Hindenburg.  And like Thalmann said: A vote for Hindenburg is a vote for Hitler.

This is do-or-die time.  All our desperate stopgaps aren’t buying us years; at most, they might buy us weeks.  You don’t need to ask yourselves what you would’ve done had you lived in Weimar Germany anymore; it’s what you did today.

It’s time to get in the fight.

If you’re not as afraid as you should be, if you think that the system still works or that you can somehow keep yourself safe by being a Good German, I want you to remember this:  Whether by violence or disease or accident or old age, you are going to die one day.  One day you’re going to die, and your loved ones are going to gather around to remember who you used to be as they lay your bones into your grave.
