Look, I grew up loving Harry Potter and I saw the writing on the wall about JKR a few years back. I think a lot of us did. The fact that she’s blatant and emboldened right now and that she’s getting published with this TERF garbage is bad. It’s so bad. It’s dangerous and it’s going to get people killed. 

Write an email. Don’t write anything threatening, just make it clear that we are so disappointed by Hatchette, Little Brown, and Mulholland Books that we are considering not buying things from their imprints again. Let David Shelley know that we think he should put people’s lives before profit. 

It’s that simple. 

(A basic script would be “Hello my name is [name] and I’ve been reading books from your brand for [years]. I’ve loved [insert title published by that imprint here] and I am disappointed by the direction you’re going by choosing to give hate a platform by publishing books like Troubled Blood which put transphobia front and center and further victimize already marginalized groups.”)
