Zipacna is a demonic entity in Mayan mythology. The son of the bird demon Vucub Caquix and the giant Chimalmat, he is described as an enormous caiman. Like his brother Cabrakan, he is known to be destructive and arrogant.
One story tells of how Zipacna helped construct a hut, but did so to mock the weakness of the men building the hut rather than out of altruism. The insulted men attempted to kill Zipacna, but he deceived them, faking his death and then collapsing the hut on top of them, killing them all.
