The blame for delays is not just about trump’s despicable vanity signature. It is also years of Republicon destruction, at the cost of billions in revenue, as the IRS navigates greater volume with a shrunken workforce and ancient technology. These payments now present an additional and urgent task.
Corporations and wealthy criminals like trump were given greater safety to cheat as Republicons disabled the nation’s revenue service. The same engineered problems slow the rollout of financial help, however.
Just as Republicons sabotaged the USPS, which would otherwise sustain itself profitably, they created a fake narrative and “punished” the IRS in order to reduce the revenue collected through audits of wealthy cheaters. This is yet another way that Republicon hatred of government leaves us worse off.
