The British horror film was written by Brian Clemens and directed by Roy Ward Baker. It starred Ralph Bates and Marine Beswick.

This was Hammer Film Productions third adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella, first published in 1886, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The other two were The Ugly Duckling (1959) and The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960).
