Fishhook theory in full effect, y’all.

Funny how all of a sudden, socialized medicine isn’t “ponies & unicorns” now, isn’t it??

Hm. Maybe …. maybe Medicare-for-All wasn’t so “pie in the sky” after all.

DNC hypocrites are just as bad as their Republican counterparts.

Perhaps now would be a good time to remind everyone that neoliberalism is a ideology shared by conservatives and centrists.

One last point here: “free testing and waivers” basically means universally available to all. With no means testing. Periodt.

“Means testing” a universal right is antithetical to the concept of the word “rights.”

If we believe, for example, that everyone has the right to free college, then we don’t “means test” who can or cannot attend free universities. Because common sense tells us that wealthier people will use their money to go to more prestigious private universities. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton aren’t going to send their grandchildren to a free college, not when they can buy them an Ivy League education.

Similarly, the super rich aren’t going to get their COVID-19 tests and treatments at the same free places that you and I would. They have money. Their doctors will come to them.

This is why the argument that “I don’t want Trump’s children getting free college” was asinine. (And even if they did get a free education, so fucking what? Do conservaDems really want to block free college from millions and millions of deserving people, just to get at a few rich kids? That’s stupid.)

“Means testing” is used by both conservatives and centrists as a tool to poke holes in the social safety net.
