The Nameless Thing of Berkeley Square

The building already had a reputation for being eerie when sir Robert warbois took a bet to stay on the second floor. He convinced the guard of the building to stay the night and was given the keys. He carried a pistol and a candle with him. Approximately 45 minutes afterwards, the guard, who fell asleep, was suddenly awakened by a noise, followed by a gun shot. Bursting through the door, the guard was horrified to see the corpse of the kid before him. Smoke blew from his pistol, his eyes bulging in terror. The only other thing the guard could find was the bullet hole in the floor. No explanation as to what had occured. About 40 years later, two sailors slept on the second floor in 1887. They were drunk and needed a place to stay. They broke into the basement, however, they eventually went up to the warmer second floor. The following hour, one of the brothers woke up, and is the only one to see it. He described it as a grey octopus like being creeped slowly over the floor, every time it moved, the floor creeked. It then stood there as the other brother woke up and tried forcing the creature off of him as it suddenly attacked him. He screamed loudly, struggling to detach the beast. The other brother ran away, purportedly to find help. Once he found police, they ran to the building, only to find a similar corpse to the first. The building is a book shop now, however the second floor is barracaded off, with a warning sign placed upon it.
