solarpunk action week plans

hey! so for solarpunk action week (starting march 8th!), I don’t actually have time to do much because I work 2 jobs and have writing deadlines. I figured I could use the time I do have to plan future solarpunk stuff and make small changes to my life that add up over time. so here we go!

i want to start by cooking my own food & eating out less; because I work two jobs and have a commute of up to 2 hours (when I stay at my parent’s house), I often don’t have time for this, as well as not actually having a space of my own to store food (when I’m crashing on my friend’s couch). but I thought over it, and I think I can manage to store some canned food at my friend’s place, and maybe have some fridge space? I’ll have to check with them but if not, canned food will work.

related to this, my parent’s house has a vegetable garden that I really want to be involved in this year. I’m going to start some plants in self-watering containers made from old soda bottles, and check in with my mom to see if she’s willing to take care of them while I’m gone (I only stay at my parent’s house one or two nights a week). I Might also ask about setting up a vertical garden where I’m staying, but that’s reliant on my friend’s shitty abusive parents and also it might make moving out Away from my friend’s shitty abusive parents more difficult. I like the looks of this one, though!

I also want to set up a free store! this is a bit of a big thing, though. I don’t have a good location, but I saw some ppl do a free store on a cart, and one of my jobs sells huge rolling tubs that I could make work if I don’t have time to DIY it.

lastly, I want to collect leftist & solarpunk writing & resources to bind into zines and hand out to people, maybe as part of the free store? I dabble in bookbinding, even if I’m not very good at it yet, and this would be a good way to practice my craft & spread leftist ideas.

that’s all! thanks for reading!
